How do you start your day? Maybe you grab a cup of coffee, maybe you read the daily paper or maybe you’re like me and start your day off by scrolling through your social media feed. However you start your day, it is paramount that you start it off the right way as your morning sets the tone for the rest of your day.
When your alarm blasts off in the early morning hours, it can sometimes be a drag. That constant thought running through your mind of “Just five more minutes!” and the temptation of hitting “snooze” seems inescapable. However, I have a few quick and easy steps that you can take to counter the early morning blues.
The most difficult part of every morning routine is simply prying yourself out of your warm, cozy bed. The best way to overcome this first obstacle is simple, commit to it. Count down in your head, five, four, three, two, two and half…one! Leap out of bed and attack the rest of your morning. By committing, counting down and leaping out of bed, you will have the toughest step of your morning routine accomplished. You did it!
The next tip to starting your day off on the right foot would be by getting your blood pumping early and doing something active. Now, I am not suggesting that you run a marathon at 6AM, rather I am asking you to try doing 25 jumping jacks, or maybe 10 push-ups. Anything that you can do to get yourself moving, active and awake. This will be a
shock to your body and it will get your blood pumping completely naturally before the crack of dawn.
The last piece of advice that I have before you get ready for work, brush your teeth and pack your lunch would be to write down on a piece of paper (don’t just say it in your head) something that you’re thankful for. By this point, your body will be wide-awake, but it’s time to put your mind to work and starting it off in a positive place is always a good idea. By writing this out on a sheet of paper you will be keeping a log of things that you’re thankful for. After a while, you will have accumulated a list of things that you’re thankful for and that positivity will simply become a part of your daily routine.
Mornings can be rough, there is no denying that. However, by taking a few quick and easy steps, you can start each day off with energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude making you ready to make the most of it!
